Dalots Series
My artwork is a projection of the proliferation of human prayer and desires onto the multiplication of the natural world, such as cell division.
The red creatures are called “DALOTS”, which I coined from “Lots of Daruma”. They are inspired by Daruma dolls, Japanese talisman modeled after Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism.
Throughout history, people have prayed and made wishes, but their wishes have never stop growing. Daruma is entrusted with human wishes, and because they discern the fate and truth of those wishes, I depict DALOTS and bubble-like figure as a symbol of human prayer and desire.
Although human beings have the wisdom to understand each other, we are still in a history of discrimination and confrontation. DALOTS are depicted as a symbol of that transcend religions and thoughts as well because Daruma came from Buddhism, however, it transcends the religion and became a talisman in Japan.
